Have you tried to do a Wherigo cache but not known how ?
What is a Wherigo cache ?
A wherigo is a cross between a geocache, a multicache, and an adventure game. Like a multi cache, it has a listed starting point, and a "hidden" final cache container. But the fun comes getting from one to the other. Instead of going from waypoint to waypoint, you need to follow a "guide". The guide comes in the form of some built in software in selected GPS units, or downloading an app to your smartphone.
The following tutorial is based on downloading the Wherigo ceated by Kyzabra. But feel free to try it with a Wherigo closer to you.
If you have any feedback, or queries, please don't hesitate to contact Kyzabra.
How do I get this on my Smart Phone ?
Before you start, make sure you have your geocaching.com username an password handy.
(1) Download App to Phone
All instructions for the iPhone are done from your phone
You will need to go to the app store and download the "Wherigo" App. This is easy. Go to the app store, click the search icon, and type in "wherigo". The wherigo app will appear and you click on "GET" to download to your phone. No cost.
Now that you have the app, you need to download what is called a "cartridge". The Cartridge is the actual game that runs within the app. To do this, you firstly need to open your browser on your phone. Safari seems to work best for this.
In the browser, you need to go to www.wherigo.com . Once this page has loaded, you need to log in. This is up the top right hand side. It can be a bit small on the phone screen so "pinch and zoom" to make it bigger.
Once you have logged in, click on the Nearby Cartridges link. This will bring up the closest cartridges to play by your home location (as set on geocaching.com). There are other search options for downloading cartridges in other places.
Once you have found the cartridge you want to play, click on its name and it will take you to the page for the cartridge where there will be more info (often time to play, etc). Click on the Download button. A new screen will appear. It defaults to "Pocket PC Device". Dont change it. Leave it as is then click Download Now. You will then be given the option to Open in "Wherigo". Click this and you are almost done.
How to Start Playing
You should now be at a screen showing the cartridges you have downloaded, including this one. Click on the cartridge you want. It will appear and click Play Once you start, make sure you wait for the accuracy to drop down to green. Then click Continue. Depending on the game, you will be presented with an opening screen or menu..
From there, its up to you :)
The most stable way I have found to Wherigo on an android is by downloading the cartridge via a PC. I have done this tutorial using a Samsung Note 4. I am presuming it is similar on most android phones.
First step is to install the app called WhereYouGo. Go to the play store and search for it and download it. You need to accept that the app will access your Location, and Media/Files.
Then you need to go back to your PC. Open your browser and go to www.wherigo.com. Up the top right hand side, you will see an area to login. You will need to log in here with your geocaching.com. username and password. Once logged in, click on Nearby Cartridges and the page will display the closest Wherigo cache to your home address as determined by geocaching.com. Click on the cartridge you want, then click on the blue download button.
From the next page, leave the option as "Pocket PC" and click download. Make sure you remember where you download the file to. Now, you need to plug in your phone to the computer. Once your phone is discovered, you need to drag the downloaded file to the WhereYouGo folder on your phone.
Once this is done, you can unplug your phone, and run your app. On the welcome screen, click Start then choose the cartridge you wish to run. Then click Start. Depending on the game, you will be presented with an opening screen or menu..
